What to Expect in an Initial Consultation

An initial consultation is the first meeting with an attorney to discuss the facts of your case, as well as your unique details and history. The goal of the initial consultation is for the attorney to gain a firm understanding of your case. It is imperative that you bring any important information or papers that you were served with. If you were not served, bring any relevant or necessary paperwork.

During the consultation, the attorney should discuss any legal exposure and strategy options to best protect you, if necessary. Additionally, the attorney should provide you with realistic expectations of the case. Seeking an attorney can be an uneasy task, but it is important that you feel comfortable with the attorney you choose.
